Zur Alten Fischraucherei in Rankwitz

Ever since we ended up here by chance years ago, we've always enjoyed coming back. The food is really tasty and the cucumber salad tastes like grandma's - haha. The in-house smokehouse is also really practical, where you can take something to take home with you.

Impeccable goods presented very tasty. If the saleswoman would now also pull the face mask over her nose and show a little more friendliness, then 5 stars would be justified.

Apart from the great selection of perfect "fish" (we tried it out), every member of staff here is nice, knowledgeable and just great. I think ... (it doesn't get any better). The "fish sandwich" can't be topped. There immediately :-)

The area and the location, absolutely great. However, we wanted a table in the outdoor area for 6 people, so we were told by the waitress in a snappy tone "Unfortunately, we only have tables for 4". So we were left standing. Our next port of call was the fish shop. We wanted to buy fish meatballs there. Was nothing again! Here we were told that you have to be there at 8:30 as they would sell out quickly. The fish rolls were less full, extremely dry and therefore absolutely overpriced. Here, too, the customer communication was zero and the staff extremely annoyed.

An excursion that is worthwhile. If you disregard the usual complaints at the entrance to the tables, there is a sign that you are placed (Corona), unfortunately there are still those contemporaries who ignore everything and then complain about the advice of the service. It was a shame anyway, it was worth the trip.

Insider tip ... Small card of very high quality and tasty. I can only recommend the fish dishes. Very friendly and attentive staff. I can only lift the 👍👍👍.

Fish can be enjoyed in three ways on the Achterwasser in the port of Rankwitz: to take away from the fish shop, in a roll from the fish snack bar, and in the fish restaurant. The fish rolls are in the upper mid-range in terms of taste, so we reserve a table for the same evening. Main courses in the modern restaurant cost between eleven and twenty euros. The service is very ... relaxed, which also applies to compliance with hygiene protection measures. A drinks menu is only available for wine, everything else is presented orally. So I try a "Störtebeker Atlantik Ale", but it is too fruity for me. The black beer from the same brewery is more my case. We choose "Trout Blue" (with boiled potatoes, herb butter, creamed horseradish and cucumber salad) and "Fried pikeperch, Greek style with a cap of dried tomatoes, peppers, sheep cheese and olives, fried potatoes". The pikeperch is tender and fried to the point, but is buried under a lush layer of yellow pepper sticks, which, like the other side dishes, add absolutely nothing to the flavor. What is supposed to be "Greek" about it does not reveal itself to me. In Greece one would conjure up a really delicious dish from these ingredients. It doesn't work here. The architect, on the other hand, likes her trout. The ice cream for dessert is good.

We were just about to eat here. Meatballs and pickled salmon. Delicious. The service was super nice, everything was great. Most importantly, Corona rules were more than complied with. You really feel at home here.

A nice service and a very good kitchen made us enjoy a delicious dinner. Twice because it was so beautiful. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere of the Rankwitz harbor.

We visited the restaurant 'Zur alten Fischräucherei' on July 20th, 2020 at 5pm. Due to the corona pandemic, we reserved a table for two adults and a toddler by phone the day before. On arrival we were greeted warmly and brought to our table. Unfortunately there was no baby chair, or none was offered to us. We would have liked that based on the reservation. Our order was taken promptly. The drinks came within 5 minutes, the food within 10 minutes. We were very pleasantly surprised and liked that! We chose 'three kinds of fish with fish potatoes' and the 'cod fillet with boiled potatoes in honey-mustard sauce'. For our fish-loving junior, we easily got a few pieces of fried salmon. As drinks we chose a large cyclist (Alster), a semi-dry white wine and a bottle of water. There was nothing to complain about about the food. The cod was firm on the meat and breaded enough. The honey mustard sauce was not too heavy and went very well with it. Only the boiled potatoes should have been a bit salty for my taste. The three types of fish were different and very lightly breaded, again no complaints and very, very tasty. The fish potatoes, a kind of mashed potato with fish and the strong creamy sauce rounded off the dish well. All drinks came well chilled, the bottle of water even in a cooler. For dessert we ordered espresso and the Sweden mug from the ice cream menu. 3 scoops of vanilla with apple sauce, whipped cream and eggnog on top. Not everything homemade, but still delicious. The espresso was served with biscuit and a small glass of water. Just great. The service was good, they asked if everything was OK and whether it tasted good. Thanks to our junior, there was also a quick chat with the waitress. :-) We had a nice stay and would be happy to recommend the restaurant. 5 stars on our part!

As always, tasty dishes were served. The friendly staff offered the food quickly and from our fairly large group everyone was very satisfied. We would love to come back so that we can maybe enjoy the fish again outdoors.
